AFL NSW/ACT Umpires to officiate GIANT AFLW clash

AFL NSW/ACT is pleased to announce the umpiring panel for Saturday’s AFL Women’s match between the GIANTS and Gold Coast SUNS will feature eleven members from the NSW and ACT umpiring team.

Matthew Baigent, Chris Brakenrig and Sam Nippress have been selected as the field umpires with Ben Fely, Sam Button, Ben Duce and Scott Hansford named on the boundary for the GIANTS’ return to Blacktown International Sportspark.

Ciara Briody and Victor Petrovic have been appointed goal umpires, with Dean Garroway and Nicholas Ford listed as emergency umpires for the Round 3 encounter.

“To have have a panel full of all local umpires this weekend is a great outcome for umpiring in New South Wales and the ACT,” AFL NSW/ACT’s Umpiring and Development Lead Brent Trewin told aflnswact.com.au.

“It shows the that our talent programs are working well and producing AFL standard officials, in the same way as the state and territory produce elite players.

“Umpire registrations across NSW and the ACT have bounced back strong for the upcoming 2021 Senior & Junior Community footballs seasons, we currently sit with registrations across the state currently sit at 1107, with a fantastic contribution from all leagues arounds NSW/ACT.
