AFL Future Leaders Community Program

AFL NSWACT is pleased to offer male and female players aged 13-18 the opportunity to participate in the AFL Future Leaders Community Program.

The AFL Future Leaders Community Program is a youth leadership program specifically designed to improve the participants leadership skills in a sporting environment (on and off field), and within their family life, at school or in employment. Training will be delivered by the Institute of Sport, a leading provider in this area.

Participants will be broken into two age categories:

  1. Aspiring Leaders – participants aged 13 to 15 (YOB 2005, 2006, 2007)
  2. Emerging Leaders – participants aged 16 to 18 (YOB 2002, 2003, 2004)

 

Program Components:

– 1 x 2 hour online module (must be completed prior to the online video conference workshops)
– 3 x 1.5 hour online video conference workshops with the head of the Institute of Sport, Dave Arthur.

 

Workshop Areas of Focus:

– Your Leadership Style
– Your Personal Brand
– Leading through Communication

 

Online Workshops Dates:

– 20, 22 and 24 April, or
– 21, 23 and 25 April
– Participants will be able to select their dates and morning or afternoon options

 

During the season, participants will be expected to take on a leadership role within the sport to put the skills learnt into practice. These roles may include umpiring, coaching, and/or helping with NAB AFL Auskick.

Players don’t have to be currently in a leadership role within their footy team to be eligible to be considered.

To nominate for the program individuals must be born in 2002 to 2007 (inclusive), available to undertake the relevant video conference workshops, and complete the below form by Midday Thursday 17 April 2020.

Participation in the AFL Future Leaders Community Program is FREE, however positions are limited to 180 across the state/territory so please apply soon.
