A shed worth Crowing about
Article from the Wollongong Advertiser.
After years of storing footballs and posts in the change-rooms, Albion Park Crows AFL Club finally has a storage room of its own.
The club, which shares a facility with Albion Park Rail Cricket Club at Croome Road Sporting Complex, received $8000 in grants to build the storage shed.
Shellharbour City Council chipped in $5000, AFL (NSW/ACT) $3000 and the club $3000 to build the much needed storage shed.
Work started on the shed in August this year and was recently completed using volunteer labour.
Albion Park Crows’ Craig Pusser said the club had to look for alternative storing arrangements with Stowaway, because of the lack of storage in place.
“At the end of the day volunteers were extended because they had to pack everything up and resort everything in a tidy fashion for next week,” Mr Pusser said.
“We had the equipment in the change-rooms which is not ideal for safety concerns and the children were playing with the equipment rather than listening to the coaches.”
The new storage shed will service not only the Crows but also a variety of coaches looking to run programs in schools.
AFL (NSW/ACT) Facility Development Officer Anthony Brooks said the new storage facility is a great outcome for the whole community.
“The AFL is committed to supporting facility improvements in the community and to work in partnership with Councils and local AFL Clubs to improve the physical environment for AFL participants”, Brooks said.
