2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season Fixture Revealed

The AFL yesterday released full details of the opening six rounds of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with timeslot flexibility held for the remaining rounds 7 to 23.

A suite of blockbuster games in front of home fans in Sydney and Canberra headlines the GIANTS’ 2021 AFL fixture, with GIANTS Stadium set to host big Victorian clubs Essendon, Richmond, Carlton, Hawthorn and cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans, while Friday night football returns to Canberra in 2021.

The Sydney Swans will return to the SCG in round two to take on Adelaide in a Saturday afternoon clash starting at 1:45pm.

The news follows the weekend announcement that the Swans will open their season with a round one match against Brisbane at the Gabba.

AFL NSW/ACT KEY DATES:

Round 1 – GIANTS’ host St Kilda at GIANTS Stadium

The GIANTS kick-off their 2021 season with a clash against St Kilda and former GIANT Jack Steele at GIANTS Stadium.

Round 2 – Swans’ first home game at the SCG

The Sydney Swans will host their first home game of 2021 in Round 2 against the Adelaide Crows at the SCG on Saturday, March 27 at 1.45pm.

Round 3 – A GIANT return to Canberra

Tom Green and the GIANTS will return to Canberra for the first time in 2021 when they host the Melbourne Demons in Round 3.

Round 4 – Sydney’s Thursday Night Blockbuster

The Sydney Swans will host a Thursday night school holiday blockbuster against Essendon at the SCG in Round 4.

Round 5 and Round 18 – Sydney Derby XXI and XXII

The first Sydney Derby (XXI) will take place in Round 5 with the Sydney Swans hosting their cross-town rivals on Saturday, April 17 at 3.45pm at the SCG.

The second instalment of the Sydney Derby will take place at GIANTS Stadium in Round 18.

Round 6 – Canberra hosts Friday night football

Canberra will host Friday night football under lights at UNSW Canberra Oval as the GIANTS host the Western Bulldogs in Round 6.

Rounds 11 – Sir Doug Nicholls Round

Sir Doug Nicholls Round, a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and contribution to Australian football commences with the Sydney Swans hosting Carlton in the Marn Grook at the SCG.

Round 14 – Zac’s GIANT Homecoming 

Narrandera’s Zac Williams will return to where it all began when he and Carlton clash with the GIANTS in Round 14 at GIANTS Stadium.

Round 20 – Third and final match in Canberra for 2021

The GIANTS’ third and final match in Canberra will take place with when they clash with Port Adelaide in Round 20.

Round 21 – GIANTS to clash with Cameron

The GIANTS will travel to GMHBA Stadium in Round 21 for the highly-anticipated clash with Geelong and Jeremy Cameron.
