AFL Female Talent Program

NSW/ACT Female Talent Pathway

NSW/ACT is committed to the ongoing growth and development of our talent female footballers. In 2016 the NSW/ACT Academy structure was launched providing players with a regular elite football training opportunity and streamlining our talent pathway. NSW/ACT will continue to compete in the U18 Youth Girls National Championships and Open Women’s State Games series.

NSW/ACT Representative Teams:

U18 Youth Girls

This team will complete in Melbourne in the 2016 Youth Girls National Championships and will be selected through the NSW/ACT Female Academy Games series. This process will provide girls with increased training opportunities. All interested players should aim to be a part of their nearest academy.

Open Women

In 2016 NSW/ACT Open women will play South Australia in Adelaide. This representative team will be selected through the NSW/ACT Female Academy structure and all interested players are encouraged to contact their nearest academy.

NSW/ACT Female Academies

The NSW/ACT Female Academies are designed to maximise the development of our players. The five academies, based across four key regions, will allow our talent and promising players the opportunity to train in elite environments with excellent coaches in order to ensure our players are given the best opportunity to excel.

Each centre will facilitate an Under 18 and Open Women’s group, where they will focus in increasing and mastering the skills of the game, building greater games sense, fitness and leadership. To be eligible to participate girls must be older than 14 as at the 1st January 2016. For information on your nearest academy please scroll down.
