Marrar too strong for EWK in elimination final

Marrar zoomed out of the blocks with four goals to EWK’s one major in the opening term to set up the 33-point victory.

Marrar controlled the early stages of the contest and despite a low-scoring second quarter, the Bombers went into the sheds at halftime with a 19-point advantage.

Marrar then stepped it up in the third quarter with five goals to open up a decent 26-point buffer by the final change.

The last quarter was a tense affair but Marrar managed two goals to EWK’s one major to come away with the 12.11 (83) to 7.8 (50) triumph.

Marrar forwards Brad Turner and Graeme Reid each kicked three goals in the win while Dale Cameron was named as the Bombers’ best player against his old club.

The sluggish start cost EWK but it was best served by Stephen Smith, Nicholas Hull and Nathan Scott.

The result means Marrar has progressed to the first semi-final against Northern Jets next Sunday while EWK has been eliminated from the race for the flag.
