NSW now has an organisation which researches and preserves the history of the game, certainly in Sydney.
This all started a few years ago with a small group of people all of whom shared a common interest in the background of the game itself. Last year it was all formalised with the formation of the NSW Australian Football History Society.
From a small number, membership of the organisation has now reached 150 – and growing.
They are slowly building a repository of print, photographic and other material which will eventually be put on display for general inspection and viewing in the Society’s rooms. Already over 50 boxes of relative items have been lodged with the state library however officials want to retain future material for their own exhibition.
Membership is open to anyone who might be interested and can be accessed online at www.nswfootballhistory.com.au then go to the ‘Join Here’ section.
