Inclusion Carnival to hold first female exhibition match

The 2019 AFL National Inclusion Carnival kicks off in Blacktown from next Monday, July 15 to Saturday, July 21.

For the first time in the Carnival’s history, a female exhibition match will be held to encourage the participation of young girls with a disability.

AFL NSW/ACT is encouraging girls aged 14 years and above with a disability to come along to Blacktown International Sportspark on July 16 from 3-4pm, to take part in the event.

Uniforms will be supplied and there is no experience required – it’s all about getting involved in playing Australian Football.

AFL NSW/ACT Community Football Support Manager, Jacinta Houston said she is looking forward to seeing some new faces at the Carnival.

“For the first time in the Carnival’s history, we will be hosting a Female Inclusion Exhibition Match,” said Houston.

“This is giving females with disabilities the chance to showcase their athletic abilities.

“The female match is the next step in making the carnival truly inclusive.”
