GIANTS to make AFLW history in 2020

The GWS GIANTS will host four AFL Women’s matches during the upcoming 2020 season, including the first ever AFL/AFLW double header at GIANTS stadium.

Officially finding themselves in Conference A, the GIANTS join Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, North Melbourne and AFLW newcomers the Gold Coast and Richmond. Conference B includes, the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne, Fremantle, Collingwood, Carlton, West Coast and St Kilda.

In what will be a season of firsts for the GIANTS in 2020, the club’s AFLW Round 7 clash with Geelong will not only be the AFLW team’s first ever game at GIANTS Stadium but it will be played ahead of the GIANTS’ round one AFL Premiership match against the Cats.

The GIANTS will also host an AFLW home game in Wagga Wagga for the first time in Round 5, with the GIANTS to host Richmond the day before the men’s side play in the Marsh Community Series at the same venue.

The Wagga Wagga game will mark a homecoming for GIANTS AFLW stars Alyce Parker (Holbrook) and Jodie Hicks (Hay) as they return to home in GIANTS colours for the first time.

The GIANTS open their 2020 AFLW campaign in a Round 1 match against newcomers the Gold Coast SUNS at Blacktown International Sportspark, before returning to the same venue a fortnight later to take on fellow expansion side the West Coast Eagles in Round 3.
