Lambton and TRAC crowned Schools Cup Champions

Year 7 and 8 students from 16 high schools across the region travelled to UNSW Canberra Oval – the ACT home of the GWS GIANTS – to battle it out in the Boys and Girls state finals.

After a full day of solid competition, it all came down to two Grand Finals. In the Girls competition, Holy Spirit College Bellambi (Wollongong) took on Lambton High School (Newcastle).

In one of the closest competitions seen during the Schools Cup, Lambton High School came from behind to clinch victory by one-point.

In the Boys competition, the local Lyneham High School (Canberra) took on the Riverina Anglican College (Wagga Wagga) in a hard-fought contest, with the win going to the visitors, the Riverina Anglican College.

You can see all the results from across the day here.

AFL NSW/ACT would like to extend a large thank you to every school who participated in the 2019 AFL NSW/ACT Schools Cup, and a big congratulations to the two winning schools. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
