Local trio set for 2018 NAB AFL Draft Combine

AFL NSW/ACT will have three representatives attending the 2018 NAB AFL Draft Combine in Melbourne this October.

From this years’ Allies group, Nick Blakey (Sydney Swans Academy), Kieren Briggs and Jacob Koschitzke (GIANTS Academy) have all been nominated by multiple clubs to attend.

The Draft Combine will assess each player’s strength and skills through several tests including the standing vertical jump, agility tests and running tasks.

All three players had successful 2018 NAB AFL Under-18s Championships with both Briggs and Koscitzke being named in the 2018 NAB AFL Under-18 All Australian squad.

AFL NSW/ACT State Manager for Talent and Coaching, Darren Denneman says he is happy for those nominated.

“We as the state body are very pleased for the three players nominated by AFL clubs to attend the national combine, and wish them well,” said Denneman.

“We also look forward to additional AFL NSW/ACT players being nominated for the State Combine in the coming weeks.”

AFL National Talent Ambassador, Kevin Sheehan said the Draft Combine is an exciting time for the players involved as it is the final assessment period before the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.

“The Draft Combine provides players with a final chance to show off their physical prowess and football skills in front of club recruiters,” he said.

“Clubs will get to see the players in action up close before conducting interviews to rate the players’ overall potential as the countdown begins to the 33rd NAB AFL Draft.”

The 2018 NAB AFL Draft Combine will be held at Etihad Stadium on October 2-5.
